Mkhitar Hayrapetyan participated in the first 2024 conference of the UEICT
On January 31, the first 2024 conference of the Union of Employers of Information and Communication Technologies (UEICT) was held in Yerevan.
Hakob Arshakyan, Vice President of the National Assembly of the RA, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, Minister of High-Tech Industry of the RA, and Armen Baldryan, President of the UEICT, delivered welcome speeches at the conference.
In his welcome speech, Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan noted the importance of designing policies and strategies aimed at the development of the sector, underlining in this context the importance of the creation of the Council of Science and Technology, where new ideas and new solutions will be summarized, leading to a new result of the development of the sector.
"I want to note that the Ministry of High-Tech Industry, as one of your main and most important partners in the Government, intends to become the platform where you and all community representatives can generate new ideas for solutions, being a participant in the development of the same policies and strategies, as a result of daily work. In our opinion, Armenia should aspire to become an international center of science and technology, essentially consolidating science, engineering, and the IT sector, which will summarize this cycle in the form of industry and production," the Minister noted.
Touching upon the question of designing the strategy for the sector's development, the Minister noted that a lot of work has already been done, today there is just a need to combine all approaches, ideas, develop the strategy and derive from it a road map with its actions and measures.
During the conference, the Executive Director of the UEICT, Eduard Musayelyan, summarized the successes and achievements of the Union in 2023, presented the upcoming programs and initiatives for 2024.
In 2024, together with USAID, the Union will work on the development of the strategy. Within the framework of the conference, the USAID consultant presented the methodology and directions for creating a new strategy.
