Minister Robert Khachatryan received the newly appointed Ambassador of Iran Mehdi Sobhani

On September 8, RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Robert Khachatryan received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) to the Republic of Armenia Mehdi Sobhani.

The Minister congratulated Mehdi Sobhani on assuming the post of Iranian Ambassador to Armenia and wished him success in strengthening the long-standing Armenian-Iranian, historical and friendly relations. Robert Khachatryan presented the main functions of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry and the areas coordinated by the Ministry.

Mehdi Sobhani was presented with the agreements reached with the previous Ambassador of Iran and the work done, steps to form cooperation between Armenian and Iranian technology companies. The Minister expressed his readiness to make efforts to implement all agreements and form new partnerships.

The newly appointed Ambassador noted with satisfaction the high level of Armenian-Iranian relations in all areas of mutual interest and expressed hope that the two countries will be able to form effective cooperation in the field of knowledge and technology. In this context, the Ambassador emphasized that Iran has made significant achievements in the field of new technologies and occupies a high position in the world in terms of its pace of development.

According to the Ambassador, there are currently 7,800 knowledge-intensive companies, 12,000 technology companies and 6 science and technology parks with 111,000 employees operating in Iran.

Minister Robert Khachatryan noted that the indicators presented by the Ambassador are very encouraging, and also recalled that he was very impressed by the solutions presented by Iranian companies during the DigiTec Expo 2022 exhibition.

The parties agreed that in order to increase mutual recognition, it is necessary to organize the mutual participation of Iranian and Armenian private companies in exhibitions and other events held in both countries more often.

In this context, Minister Robert Khachatryan invited Iranian companies to participate in the DigiTec Expo 2023 technology exhibition, which will be held in October, as well as in the international defense technology exhibition ArmHighTech 2024, to be held in March 2024.
