“IT sector dialogue 2022″ event was held

On November 16, a meeting-discussion was held on the topic “IT sector Dialogue 2022”, in which state officials and representatives of industry companies took part.

Adviser to the Vice Prime Minister of the RA Hambartsum Matevosyan Anna Gasparyan conveyed to the audience the welcoming speech of the Deputy Prime Minister, in which the latter emphasized the key role of the IT sector in the development of the RA economy. “The Republic of Armenia is turning into a technological cluster. Yerevan is becoming home to many famous companies. We are happy to welcome everyone here and are proud that high-class professionals choose our country. For our part, we are doing everything possible to make our contribution, facilitate public services, and create favorable conditions for the further development of the industry.”

Then Davit Sahakyan, Deputy Minister of High-Technology Industry of the RA presented the Ministry’s strategy, details of a number of ongoing programs, including support and benefits components. Highlighting the meetings with the representatives of the IT sector companies operating in Armenia, the Deputy Minister noted that it will help to understand what problems exist and the possibilities for their solution.

Touching upon the indicators of the Global Innovation Index, Davit Sahakyan noted that although Armenia lost its position in the index in 2022, it occupies a favorable position in terms of institutional indicators, which indicates that the state policy aimed at improving the sector has succeeded. In the IT sector, the number of services, industry companies, and specialists has grown.

Levon Hovhannisyan, Director General of the Investment Support Center Foundation (Enterprise Armenia), also welcomed the participants of the event, stressed the importance of meetings with IT companies operating in Armenia, representatives of technological associations and state structures of the Republic of Armenia, which contribute to the development of optimal solutions, integration of companies in Armenia, improvement of legislative and other regulatory processes.

Deputy Minister of Economy of the RA Ani Ispiryan spoke about the programs aimed at modernizing the economy. And Mari Barseghyan, project manager of the Enterprise Incubator Foundation, spoke in detail about the activities of the foundation.

Chairman of the “Engineering Association” Aram Salatyan presented the concept of “Engineering City”, according to which companies are located around common equipment, and in the future it is planned to create a “Factory City”.

This was followed by a question and answer session, during which representatives of the industry companies addressed their questions to the officials of the RA High-Tech Industry, the RA Ministry of Economy, the RA Central Bank, the Migration Service, the SRC and sector companies.
