WCIT 2024 Once Again Highlights Our Country\'s Strong Will to Become a Technology Hub: The World Congress on Innovation and Technology Kicks Off

One of the most significant events in the technology sector, WCIT 2024, commenced on October 5 at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex, under the headline "THE POWER OF MIND: AI Beyond Limits, Within Ethics."

At the opening ceremony, RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan highlighted the importance of the event, noting that it once again underscores Armenia's clear and strong will to become a global technological center and an important regional tech hub, with future ambitions to offer new and complex technological innovations to the world.

"Armenia made its decision long ago to concentrate its resources on artificial intelligence and innovative technologies, as it is determined to take ownership of these technologies for the sake of our environment and the well-being of all people," said Mkhitar Hayrapetyan.

In his opening remarks, the Minister emphasized that Armenia aspires to develop complex technological and innovative solutions in the future. "AI already provides opportunities to solve serious problems in healthcare, education, the economy, and environmental protection," he added, acknowledging that concerns surrounding AI are natural.

Summarizing his speech, the Minister called for unity around the agenda of using AI for the benefit of humanity, emphasizing that Armenia proposes to manage this technology with the power of its own intellect.

Welcome remarks were also delivered by Mr. Alexander Yesayan, President of UATE, and Mr. Sean Seah, Chairman of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA).

Additionally, speeches were given by Mr. Rev Lebaredian, Vice President of NVIDIA, and Noubar Afeyan, Founder and CEO of Flagship Pioneering.

As part of WCIT 2024/DigiTec 2024, investors from various countries have arrived in Armenia. The World Congress on Innovation and Technology, WCIT 2024, promises to be an unprecedented opportunity for Armenian companies to establish partnerships and showcase their innovations to a global audience.
