Technological events held in the regions offers new opportunities to promote experience exchange and generating new ideas. On July 4, the Deputy Minister of High Tech Industry of the RA Ruben Simonyan expressed this statement in his welcoming remarks at the tech summit "Silicon Mountains 2024 Shirak" held at the Gyumri Technology Center.

For the first time this year, the summit expanded its borders and was held in Gyumri, regional center of Shirak, uniting regional IT companies, startups and everyone who is interested in digital opportunities.

"The Silicon Mountains Project is another path leading towards our dreams. While dreaming about having a strong state, we aim to make it a strong technological one and to position ourselves firmly on the technological map. We should work towards creating an ecosystem that will allow the youth to express their knowledge in their settlements. Much still remains to be done on this path,”- stated the Deputy Minister Ruben Simonyan.

Within the framework of the summit, leading experts in the field presented their views in a panel discussion on three main topics: "Startups in Regions," "Human capital in Regions" and "Investments in Regions".

Deputy Minister Ruben Simonyan attended the panel discussion "Startups in Regions," where he spoke about programs implemented by the Ministry.

Referring to academic programs in technological sector, Ruben Simonyan stated that this year the "Academia-Private Sector Cooperation" program will present a component called "Mass Training" which will be implemented for residents of Gegharkunik, Syunik and Vayots Dzor regions and will provide comprehensive technological education and career guidance.

The DeputyMinister also proposed details about "Idea to Business" grant program and the "Neruzh" diaspora technology startup program.

The panel discussion was attended by Hovik Musaelyan, Director of "Synopsis Armenia", Ashot Hovhannisyan, Founding Director of "Synergy", Beniamin Gyurjian, Director of "EPAM Systems" and Armen Baldryan, Chairman of ICT Employers' Union.

An expo was held in parallel, where companies from different sectors, both from the regions and from Yerevan presented their products and proposed smart solutions. Ruben Simonyan toured the exhibition pavilions, met with represented companies and offered products and digital solutions.

Silicon Mountains tech summit held in Gyumri seeks to identify the digitization level in various regions in the era of digital transformation. The summit seeks to engage regions into digital transformation process, to incorporate digitization across various sectors of regional economy, to enhance the use of digital tools and to promote cooperation between the public and private sectors.

For the purpose of expanding sectoral cooperation with the RA Ministry of High-Tech Industry, the Georgian delegation also participated in the summit throughout their mission.
