The "Innovate Armenia 2024" workshop kicked off in Yerevan in order to create a draft of the national strategy for high-tech industry
On March 2, the "Innovate Armenia 2024" workshop organized by the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia started in Yerevan.
The aim of the workshop is to bring together key stakeholders of Armenia's high-tech industry (HTI) sector to develop a comprehensive and forward-looking national strategy.
At the official opening of the event, Minister of High-Tech Industry of the RA Mkhitar Hayrapetyan delivered a speech. Welcoming the participants of the event, the Minister spoke about the priority need to have a national strategy for high-tech industry, emphasizing the document that will be formed by the joint efforts of the participants of the workshop.
"I hope that as a result of this workshop we will be able to combine all the work done and get the necessary document. Why is strategy for the high-tech industry important to us? I will not reveal a secret if I say that in the absence of this fundamental document, all decisions made in space and time have a great risk of not being fundamental, calculated and having no effect. The document being created can be a way for us to show the beginning and the ongoing work that we have planned for ourselves. It will mean that we know the sequence and order of our steps, we know what is the path we have to take. With this document, we should set the directions where Armenia will have something to say to the world," Mkhitar Hayrapetyan said.
Hakob Arshakyan, Vice President of the National Assembly of the RA, spoke in his speech about the possibilities of ensuring technological leapfrogging in Armenia. The Vice Speaker of the Parliament noted that Armenia has all the opportunities to ensure an abrupt development.
Within the framework of the workshop, panel discussions, group works, exchange of ideas took place on "The global panorama of HTI sector and Armenia's potential", "Innovative trends in the global HTI sector", "The path of progress: strategy implementation" and a number of other topics.
At the end of the workshop, the participants will jointly create a draft national strategy for high-tech industry of Armenia, including a clear vision, realistic goals and practical plans.
The workshop, initiated by the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia, is implemented with the support of the "Economic Foundations for a Resilient Armenia" program of the USAID, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
