PMI Science International Company - The First Resident in Business Accelerator, MoU was Signed

On July 8, the signing ceremony of the PMI Science – Engineering City memorandum was held in Engineering City, attended by the Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia Mkhitar Hayrapetyan. The memorandum was signed between PMI Science, the Enterprise Incubator Foundation, and the Engineering Association, paving the way for innovative projects and the advancement of the scientific research ecosystem. With this memorandum, Engineering City entered a new phase. PMI Science became the first international resident not only to lease space in the business accelerator building but also to establish a multifunctional research center featuring innovative laboratories and production capabilities in electronics, materials science, aerosol research, and prototype development.

Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan delivered welcoming remarks, highlighting the importance and viability of the initiative, as well as the value of public-private cooperation in advancing scientific research and technological potential.

“Every company involved in Engineering City benefits from being in an environment that combines multidisciplinary scientific research projects, knowledge exchange, and collaboration,” the Minister noted.

He emphasized that the strategic goal of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry and the Government of Armenia is to position the country not only as a regional, but also as a global R&D hub. This MoU marks a significant step toward that goal, laying the foundation for new knowledge, innovative solutions, and joint projects.

The research center planned at Engineering City aims to introduce new-generation equipment, which will significantly enhance its production and experimental capabilities. This will serve as a foundation for launching innovative projects and expanding scientific and research networks.

At the end of the event, a certificate award ceremony was held for the 2025 Faculty Research Program of PMI Science. The certificates were officially awarded by Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan and Luca Rossi, Vice President of Technology and Research at Philip Morris International (PMI).

These grants are aimed at supporting academic institutions and scientific organizations in generating new ideas and implementing research projects. Each Faculty Research Program grant amounts to USD 15,000.
