In 1992 the Republic of Armenia joined the International Telecommunication Union and became its full member. Since 1992, in addition to the activities previously undertaken by the organization, it has also included the international protection of the satellite orbits assigned to the RA and of radio networks operating in RA, as well as representing the Republic of Armenia in international organizations in its capacities of a communication administration authorized by the Ministry.
Until January 1st, 2006, as “RCT” CJSC, the company was also providing licenses for the usage of radiofrequency bands, afterwards, by the decision of the Republic of Armenia No 1807-N dated 6 October 2005 “RCT” SNCO was formed. Since then, the activities of RCT include:
- monitoring of radio spectrum and measurements of technical signal parameters
- location of radio electronic means and high-frequency devices
- measurements and calculations of electromagnetic situations
- technical inspection of radio electronic means and high-frequency devices
- testing of radio electronic means and high-frequency devices
- finding and eliminating the sources of interference in radio spectrum
- regularly reviewing the RA National Table of Frequency Allocations to make it as close to the International Table of Frequency Allocations as possible
- technical acceptance procedures at construction sites where radio electronic means and high-frequency devices are installed
- planned measurements of assigned frequencies
- international coordination and registration of satellite positions assigned to the RA and their respectful and planned frequency bands and channels
- editing, planning and comparing the information about new frequency assignments in order to further register them in the MIFR.
Meanwhile, “RCT” SNCO is authorized to conduct the following types of entrepreneurial activities:
- all types of measurements and testing of radio electronic means and high-frequency devices
- development of technical projects for electromagnetic compatibility of radio electronic means and high-frequency devices
- installation and adjustment of radio electronic means and high-frequency devices
- provision of advisory services in the field of communication and radio electronics
- repairing and maintenance of communication and radio electronic devices as well as antenna feeder devices.
