Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan Meets with U.S. State Department Delegation

On September 12, RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan received the delegation of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, headed by Senior Official Brendan Hanrahan.
Welcoming the members of the delegation, Minister Hayrapetyan emphasized the importance of the visit, noting that the continuous development and strengthening of Armenia–U.S. bilateral relations is a strategic priority for the Government of Armenia. He stressed that this visit is considered an important step toward establishing a new quality of relations.
During the meeting, Minister Hayrapetyan expressed confidence that the delegation’s visit would significantly contribute to the effective implementation of the measures envisaged by the Memorandum of Understanding on Innovative Partnership in the Fields of Artificial Intelligence and Semiconductors, signed between the Governments of Armenia and the United States on August 8. According to the Minister, this cooperation creates broad opportunities for the development of Armenia’s economy.
In his remarks, Brendan Hanrahan emphasized that the content of the Armenia–U.S. Memorandum of Understanding demonstrates the significant potential for bilateral cooperation in the technology sector.
A wide range of issues were discussed during the meeting, including the possibilities for developing coordinated policies in the field of artificial intelligence, implementing investments in Armenia’s semiconductor ecosystem, and developing capabilities for chip design, verification, and testing. The sides also touched upon the expansion of U.S. multinational companies’ representation in Armenia, investment promotion, streamlining of export procedures, implementation of R&D projects, as well as the issuance of an export license for Firebird’s infrastructure intended for an AI data center and opportunities for improving existing solutions.
Particular emphasis was placed on expanding cooperation in the fields of cybersecurity and space, as well as exploring other potential directions for the further development of Armenia–U.S. relations in the technology sector.
