Ruben Simonyan Speaks at Press Conference Honoring Japanese Scientist and RA State Prize Laureate
Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia, Ruben Simonyan, took part in a press conference dedicated to Dr. Yoshiaki Damon Hagiwara, the 2024 laureate of the RA State Prize for Global Contribution to High Technologies, who arrived in Armenia from Japan.
The event was attended by Dr. Hagiwara, founder of the AIPLAB consortium and President of the LOCOMTEC Laboratory, an artificial intelligence partnership system, along with Viva General Director Armen Avetisyan and Synopsys Armenia Director and Chairman of the Award’s Executive Board, Hovik Musayelyan.
In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister Ruben Simonyan expressed deep appreciation for Dr. Hagiwara’s significant contribution to the advancement of high technologies. He noted that Armenia has long been striving to establish itself as a recognizable player in the global tech landscape and to evolve into a regional technological hub. Dr. Hagiwara’s journey, determination, and accomplishments serve as vivid proof that dreams can be realized through dedication and collective effort.
“For 15 years, we have been honoring individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the world of technology,” said Simonyan. “At the same time, our team has worked consistently to introduce these remarkable figures and their achievements to the Armenian public. This long-standing effort is driven by a shared dream, to make Armenia a center of technology and talent. It’s a journey that requires not just a few years, but at least 15 years of hard, focused work.”
Dr. Hagiwara, the 15th recipient of the State Prize of the Republic of Armenia, thanked the organizers for the honor and shared his impressions of Armenia, recounting his professional journey and the experiences that shaped his success.
Viva General Director Armen Avetisyan and Synopsys Armenia Director and Chairman of the Award’s Executive Board Hovik Musayelyan also delivered welcoming remarks at the press conference.
