Mkhitar Hayrapetyan Welcomes Renowned Japanese Technologist Yoshiaki Hagiwara

On May 13, the RA Minister of High-Tech Industry, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, received Dr. Yoshiaki Damon Hagiwara—renowned Japanese scientist, President of the LOCOMTEC AIPS Laboratory, and the 2024 laureate of the RA State Prize for Global Contribution to High Technologies.
Congratulating Dr. Hagiwara on receiving this prestigious national honor, Minister Hayrapetyan noted that it is a great privilege to welcome individuals whose work has had a significant impact on the advancement of global technology. He emphasized that the RA State Prize reflects not only the appreciation of the Government of Armenia but also the respect and admiration of the entire Armenian engineering community.
Dr. Hagiwara expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and for being awarded the distinguished State Prize of the Republic of Armenia. He shared insights from his professional journey and ideas for achieving success and expressed his readiness to contribute to the growth of Armenia’s high-tech sector.
Following the meeting, Minister Hayrapetyan participated in the official redemption ceremony of a commemorative postcard, stamp, and special envelope dedicated to the theme “State Award of the Republic of Armenia for Global Contribution to the Field of High Technologies.”
Dr. Yoshiaki Hagiwara, the 2024 laureate of the RA State Prize, has made significant contributions to the development of image sensors, digital cameras, and chipsets for PS2 and PS3 PlayStation game consoles.
Hagiwara currently serves as President of Japan’s LOCOMTEC AIPS Laboratory, where he leads research in AI robotics and clean energy systems aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
