First Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry Gevorg Mantashyan Presents Armenia\'s Approaches to Responsible AI at the EAEU Forum

On May 28, First Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry Gevorg Mantashyan participated in a panel discussion titled "Principles of Responsible Application of Artificial Intelligence within Eurasian Economic Integration" held in Astana as part of the 5th Eurasian Economic Forum.

The discussion focused on the role of AI as a key driver of digital integration, economic modernization, and innovative growth within the common market of the Eurasian Economic Union. Participants addressed AI development priorities, effective data governance mechanisms, the creation of common standards, and the necessity of developing safe and trustworthy digital solutions.

During the deliberations, particular emphasis was placed upon the responsible and human-centric implementation of artificial intelligence, the assurance of cybersecurity, and the advancement of cooperation anchored in international best practices.

In his address, the First Deputy Minister underscored that the progression of artificial intelligence and digital technologies necessitates not merely the deployment of advanced solutions, but concurrently the formulation of responsible governance frameworks and long-term strategic methodologies.

"Digital transformation is not just about adopting new technologies, but also about the responsibility to ensure their safe, efficient, and trustworthy application. The development of artificial intelligence must be anchored on the principles of trust, transparency, professional capacity building, human-centered approaches, and international cooperation," Gevorg Mantashyan noted.

The First Deputy Minister also emphasized the importance of knowledge sharing and deepening professional cooperation among EAEU member states. He highlighted that artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies can play a significant role in boosting industrial competitiveness, enhancing the efficiency of public services, and developing innovative ecosystems.

Gevorg Mantashyan also noted that Armenia continuously develops its technological and innovative potential, highlighting the role of education, professional training, and international partnerships in building a trustworthy and competitive AI ecosystem in the region.

The panel discussion was moderated by Varos Simonyan, Member of the Board (Minister) for Internal Markets, Information Technology, and Information and Communication Technologies of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The event was attended by high-ranking officials from EAEU member states, including Kirill Zalesky, Minister of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus; Dmitry Mun, Deputy Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Japarov Azamat, Director of the "Kyzmat" State Institution under the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic; as well as Tigran Sargsyan, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB). Representatives of international organizations and sector-specific structures were also present, discussing perspectives on regional digital cooperation, AI deployment, and technological progress.
