Armenia is ready to host the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) which offers exceptional opportunities to young programmers in our planet to demonstrate their skills and advance at international level.

On July 17, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan received the delegation led by ICPC Executive Director Bill Poucher, who introduced ICPC's mission and noted that this is an exclusive competition for collegers and research students.

The interlocuters emphasized the importance of joint research programs among the Armenian universities and ICPC-affiliated institutions.

The High-Tech Industry Minister stated that the Armenian Government expressed readiness to host the ICPC World Finals in Armenia. Such an initiative is a great honor for Armenia. Moreover, it gives a wonderful opportunity to the younger Armenian programmers to participate in an international contest in their country.

ICPC is an algorithmic programming contest for college students. Teams work to solve problems fostering creativity, innovation, and the ability to perform under pressure. The contest is at the regional level advancing to the ICPC World Finals. The highest ranked team will be recognized as the ICPC World Finals Champions.

Significant opportunities for the project lie in the following aspects:

  • Global recognition: Armenia will become an internationally recognized technology center
  • Cooperation prospects: Opportunities for joint research projects
  • Innovation horizons: Establish new research laboratories
  • Intellectual excellence: Promote the development of technology-based education
  • Youth development: Young programmers will become part of international contest

Those efforts accelerate Armenia's technological progress, create new opportunities for the youth, and promote international cooperation in science and education.
