Deputy Minister Davit Sahakyan welcomed the participants of the Smart Botanic hackathon

The hackathon “Smart Botanic: Smart Solutions in the Botanical Garden” started on November 7.

The RA Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry Davit Sahakyan welcomed the attendees, highlighted the importance of holding such events, noted that it is a perfect tool for identifying the problems of the sector, finding solutions for them, as well as for the development of corporate accelerators in Armenia.

The Deputy Minister expressed hope that the event will result in interesting technological solutions and suggested that the startups involved in the hackathon apply for the “From Idea to Business” grant program implemented by the Ministry.

IoT SIG President Vahan Hovsepyan, Director of the Institute of Botany Arsen Gasparyan, Chairman of “ISOC Armenia Chapter” NGO Igor Mkrtumyan, Chairman of “Smart City” NGO Karen Yerznkanyan, welcomed the attendees. They also emphasized the importance of the event aimed at the modernization of the Yerevan Botanical Garden.

The hackathon aims to develop smart solutions and ideas for the Yerevan Botanical Garden, which will help to make the processes of managing, caring for and serving visitors of the garden more efficient with the use of modern technologies.

The hackathon is held in three stages. The second round will take place on November 18, during which the participants will listen to lectures, have a series of meetings, work 24 hours a day and develop prototypes of their ideas.

On November 21, during the third, final stage, the already developed solutions and expected results will be presented. According to the evaluation of the professional jury, the best solutions and the best ideas will receive monetary awards.

The organizers of the “Smart Botanic: Smart solutions in the Botanical Garden” hackathon are the “Smart City” innovation center, the ” ISOC Armenia Chapter” NGO, the Internet of Things specialized group and the Yerevan Botanical Garden.
