Gevorg Mantashyan Attends the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Digital Inclusion and Transformation in Kazakhstan
On September 3-5, Gevorg Mantashyan, the First Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia attended the Ministerial Conference on Digital Inclusion and Transformation of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for the Asia-Pacific Region (UNESCAP) in Astana, Kazakhstan.
In his remarks, Gevorg Mantashyan emphasized the significance of experience sharing and digital innovation initiatives, their applicability and dissemination in public life, and the necessity of regional cooperation in sustainable development processes. He also highlighted the importance of regional and cross-border collaboration, as well as inclusive access to digital solutions.
Gevorg Mantashyan noted that UNESCAP plays a crucial role in fostering regional cooperation, particularly in the area of digital collaboration across the Asia-Pacific region, by enhancing communication, cooperation, and the capacity of Member States.
The First Deputy Minister highlighted the impact of decision-making in the rapidly evolving digital age, noting that today’s choices will shape the future of millions in the Asia-Pacific region. He emphasized the importance of dialogue at such events, which serve as international platforms for balanced and multilateral decision-making. In concluding his remarks, Mantashyan underscored that digital collaboration is no longer just an option but an essential imperative.
During his visit, the First Deputy Minister met with Madiyev Zhaslan, Minister of Digital Development, Innovations, and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Dmitry Mun, Acting Director and Chairman of the Management Board at National Information Technologies JSC. They discussed several issues related to sectoral collaboration. Additional meetings and visits were held at the Astana Hub and with the Manager of the Astana International Financial Center (AIFC), where a range of topics of mutual interest were addressed.
During the event, Gevorg Mantashyan also participated in a panel discussion titled Digital Health: Innovations, Challenges, and Future Directions. The session brought together prominent global experts and government representatives to discuss key aspects of digital technologies in healthcare.
At the conference, the Declaration of the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Digital Inclusion and Transformation was adopted. Discussions on its draft began in March 2024, with participation from representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia. Following the session, the ministerial conference report was also adopted.
