Mkhitar Hayrapetyan Visits Yerevan State University to Discuss Advancing Scientific Research

On October 30, Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, visited Yerevan State University (YSU). He met with students and academic staff to discuss new ways of expanding cooperation.
Together with YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, the Minister toured the Institutes of Pharmacy and Physics, as well as the Faculty of Chemistry. They explored laboratories equipped with next-generation technology and examined ongoing scientific projects and products. The Minister spoke with employees, observed their work progress, and learned about the programs they have planned.
University researchers presented YSU-funded scientific projects, recently acquired equipment, programs implemented through various partnerships, and work funded by grants from the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, as well as international sources.
Minister Hayrapetyan emphasized strategies for translating research into marketable products and making YSU’s laboratory research more economically applicable. In this context, they discussed possibilities for expanding cooperation.
Afterward, a meeting-discussion was held with participation from academic staff and students. The students expressed their concerns and suggestions, and the Minister listened to their proposals on transforming research into products, presenting them in domestic and international markets, and collaborating on initiatives. Answers were provided to questions raised by participants.
The Minister also outlined several steps initiated by the Ministry aimed at developing the industry, including legislation to promote the high-tech sector.
An agreement was reached to make such meetings a regular occurrence.
