Minister Robert Khachatryan received representatives of the US Agency for International Development

On October 23, Minister of High-Tech Industry of the RA Robert Khachatryan received the delegation led by Ambassador Erin Elizabeth McKee, Assistant Administrator for Europe and Eurasia of the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

During the meeting, the possibilities of expanding cooperation with USAID, which can contribute to the development process of digitization and e-governance in Armenia, were discussed.

Welcoming the guests, Robert Khachatryan presented the works carried out in the direction of digitization in Armenia and the bodies responsible for the digitization process. The Minister emphasized the role of digitization in increasing the efficiency of the public administration system. Robert Khachatryan also gave brief information about other areas coordinated by the Ministry.

Ambassador Erin Elizabeth McKee mentioned Armenia’s great potential in the field of information technology development and emphasized the importance of the digitization process, noting that e-governance makes the government’s activities more transparent and accountable to its citizens, but on the other hand, it causes some risks. Erin McKee also drew attention to issues of countering disinformation and cyber security.

The parties also touched on the possibilities of forming cooperation in other fields, the upcoming technological development programs and the involvement of the private sector.
