Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan received the representatives of the World Bank
The Minister of High-Tech Industry of the RA Mkhitar Hayrapetyan received the representatives of the World Bank headed by Carolin Geginat, Country Manager of the World Bank for Armenia.
During the meeting, the summary of the “Trade Promotion and Quality Infrastructure” (TPQI) project and the possibilities of initiating new projects were discussed.
The Minister welcomed the guests, emphasized the partnership formed between the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the RA and the World Bank, and presented the activity directions of the Ministry. Mkhitar Hayrapetyan spoke about the development of a new legislative package aimed at the development of the sphere of information and communication technologies (ICT), presented details of the discussions with the IT community, the process of strategy development for the promotion of high-tech industry.
Carolin Geginat congratulated Mkhitar Hayrapetyan on his appointment to the position of minister, spoke about the progress of the implementation of TPQI project and the effective cooperation formed with the partners of the government of Armenia.
Carolin Geginat also expressed her views on the impressive development of the ICT sector in Armenia and its impact on the labor market.
Reference was also made to the digitalization process in Armenia and the leading role of the Ministry, the use of artificial intelligence tools, the startup ecosystem, and educational programs. In this context, the Minister noted that research and development (R&D) is one of the priority directions of the Ministry.
