“Armenia – Engineering Week 2023” kicked off in Yerevan
On November 24, the annual “Armenia – Engineering Week 2023” series of events kicked off in Yerevan. This year it is being held under the theme “Converging Engineering, Science and Art”.
Vice President of the National Assembly of the RA Hakob Arshakyan, Minister of High-Tech Industry of the RA Robert Khachatryan, other officials, leaders and representatives of the sector participated in the opening ceremony of the event.
Vice President of the National Assembly of the RA Hakob Arshakyan noted in his welcoming speech that the “Engineering Week” is a good opportunity to thank the engineers for contributing to the development of various spheres with their daily work and making people’s lives easier.“The “Engineering Week” has become a celebration of engineers. We should note that by holding this event every year, we try to thank the engineer for his contribution and daily work,” Hakob Arshakyan said, adding that the 12.4 percent growth of Armenia’s GDP last year was largely due to the growth of the high-tech sector.
Minister of High-Tech Industry of the RA Robert Khachatryan, welcoming the participants and guests, made a speech about the important influence of engineering solutions in the development of technologies, the rich traditions and the current potential of Armenian engineering.”The potential of Armenian engineering has always had its significant investment in all directions of engineering. Even today, I can say with certainty that the new generation of our talented engineers, continuing the traditions already formed in this direction, has a steady voice in this sector, contributing to the development of the scientific potential of the technological sector in Armenia. I am sure that their scientific developments based on advanced technologies will serve the progress of our country’s economy,” the Minister said.
Robert Khachatryan also expressed hope that “Engineering Week 2023” will promote the exchange of experience between local and international organizations and the development of intercultural cooperation.
Andrew Golda, Acting Deputy Mission Director of USAID Armenia, Narine Tadevosyan, Senior Operations Officer of the World Bank in Armenia, Bagrat Yengibaryan, Director of the Enterprise Incubator Foundation, and Aram Salatian, Chairman of Engineering Association, also made speeches.
The official part of the event was followed by panel discussions on the topics of Armenia’s investment attractiveness in the high-tech sector, the role of engineering in the field of emerging technologies, and the interconnection between the engineering, science and art.
The “Armenia – Engineering Week 2023” series of events will continue on November 25 and 26. On November 25, there will be an engineering exhibition, workshops and panel discussions in the “Engineering City”, and on November 26, panel discussions on “Youth and Innovation” will be held in Vanadzor Technology Center.
