Gevorg Mantashyan participated in the Davos World Economic Forum
On January 15-18, as a part of the delegation led by the President of the RA Vahagn Khachaturyan, First Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of the RA Gevorg Mantashyan participated in the 54th annual meeting of the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland.
Gevorg Mantashyan attended the meetings with the delegations of a number of states and international organizations, including Doreen Bogdan-Martin, Secretary General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Mathias Korman, Secretary General of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and Kristalina Gergieva, Director of International Monetary Fund (IMF).
Within the framework of the forum, Gevorg Mantashyan participated in a panel discussion dedicated to the problems of semiconductor production in emerging economies.
The First Deputy Minister had meetings with the heads of several companies, discussed the possibilities of operating in Armenia, including the issue of residency status in the "Engineering City" and the possibility of establishing a research branch in Armenia.
Gevorg Mantashyan also had separate meetings with international partners, as a member of AI Governance Alliance under the World Economic Forum, in cooperation with Accenture consulting company, as a co-author presented the "Generative AI Governance: Shaping a Collective Global Future" report. In the report, the approaches to the regulation, governance, development of technology, and Armenia's understanding of the initiatives aimed at the development of the sector were referred to.
This year, the World Economic Forum was held under the theme "Rebuilding Trust", bringing together representatives of dozens of state governments, civil society, business, academic communities, as well as international organizations to discuss the primary issues of the world economy and to promote the formation of new mechanisms of economic cooperation. Within the framework of the event, thematic sessions dedicated to international security and cooperation, creating growth and jobs, artificial intelligence, and climate issues took place.
