Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan Attends Workshop on the Draft Law \"On Cybersecurity\"
On March 7, RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, along with First Deputy Minister Gevorg Mantashyan, attended a trilateral workshop on the draft law "On Cybersecurity." The event was initiated by the American Chamber of Commerce in Armenia (AmCham) in collaboration with the RA Ministry of High-Tech Industry, the Information Systems Agency of Armenia, and AmCham's Digital Transformation Committee.
Minister Hayrapetyan underscored the importance of public-private partnership, highlighting that numerous proposals from the private sector were considered during the drafting process. He emphasized that the Government’s approach is based on mutual responsibility and aligning interests. The Minister reaffirmed the RA Government’s strong commitment to strengthening cybersecurity, promoting cybersecurity hygiene, and ensuring the security of Armenia’s digital environment. He also outlined key provisions of the draft law, including measures the private sector should take to enhance cyber protection.
Anushik Avetyan, Executive Director of AmCham, welcomed the participants and noted that the Chamber’s member organizations had formulated several questions and proposals regarding the law, drawing from both local and international experience. She stressed the importance of effective collaboration between the private and public sectors in advancing legislative reforms and expressed gratitude to the RA Ministry of High-Tech Industry and the Information Systems Agency of Armenia for their constructive engagement.
Nerses Yeritsyan, Chairman of the Information Systems Agency, also delivered remarks, presenting the Agency’s perspective on the proposed legislation.
