The new USAID program will strengthen Armenia’s economic resilience
On December 8, First Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia Gevorg Mantashyan participated in the official launch ceremony of USAID’s “Economic Foundations for a Resilient Armenia Activity” program.
Welcoming the participants of the event, Gevorg Mantashyan highly appreciated the continuous cooperation with the US Agency for International Development, spoke about the importance of the starting program and the high-tech industry component in it. The First Deputy Minister stressed that the high-tech industry is the driving force of the economy, creating new opportunities.
“Having such partners is an honour and a great responsibility for us. We hope that thanks to the new programs, we will increase not only our resilience, but also our national competitiveness,” Gevorg Mantashyan said.
Minister of Economy of the RA Vahan Kerobyan in his welcoming speech highly appreciated the support of the US Agency for International Development in the implementation of the plan of the Government of the RA, and also presented the Government’s economic policy aimed at increasing labour productivity and structural changes in the economy.
USAID Armenia Mission Director John Allelo presented the details of the program, emphasizing the importance of partnership with the Government of the RA.
At the event, the start of the five-year project with a budget of 24.5 million US dollars was officially announced, the achievements of the first months of implementation were presented.
After the presentation of the program, Letters of Intent were signed.
