5 million dollars will be allocated for the development of cooperation between Amazon Web Service and the Government of Armenia
Following the joint statement with the RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development Samantha Power announced $5 million new investment initiative to strengthen collaboration between Amazon Web Service and the Armenian Government.
Samantha Power noted that the RA Government is fast approaching the digital transformation process, technologies and cyber security aiming to make this vision into reality.
The USAID Administrator emphasized that Amazon Web Service will help Armenia rapidly develop and digitize its systems by training the sectors of cloud computing and cyber security and helping Armenia build its sovereignty. The initiative coming from international business community can enhance Armenia's attractiveness and create new employment opportunities which will contribute to income of the local families.
According to Power, everything happens at the right time and the right place, meaning the support to Armenia for building an effective and sustainable democracy which will serve the Armenian people.
The RA Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, on behalf of the RA Government, thanked the US Agency for International Development and the American people for their support to Armenia throughout many years.
"In this world when technology is increasingly influencing our lifestyle, the digital transformation has become a driving force in stimulating the economy and innovation and ensuring sustainable development," said Mkhitar Hayrapetyan. He added that Armenia highly values the USAID's contribution, especially in the field of service optimization, digital transformation and cyber security.
"In order to optimize services and make them citizen-centric, we have started addressing diverse modern methodologies. With the tools thereof we are currently improving procedures of Imports of Goods, Business Registration and Protection of Rights and more. Due to this, we will have outright digital services available for citizens on the national service delivery platform. One of the greatest accomplishments of our work was the prototype of the mobile version of the service delivery platform. This innovation will bring services closer to our citizens, providing access to vital services at all times and places."
In his remarks, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan also referred to the Cloud First Policy recently adopted by the RA Government, which laid a legal ground for developing the advanced cloud infrastructures. The Minister added that Armenia will certainly cooperate with the American partners in this matter to ensure the capacity development in the public and private sector in order to shift into cloud technologies.
Wrapping up his speech, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan emphasized the importance of combining efforts with the United States in the area of promoting technological innovations in Armenia and ensuring cyber security in favor of a more resilient and technologically developed state.
