Mkhitar Hayrapetyan named among the world's 100 leaders in Advancing Artificial Intelligence in Governance.
The Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia (RA), Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, has been included in the 2026 "Government AI 100" list compiled by the internationally renowned platform, Apolitical. The list features 100 of the world’s most influential leaders who have significantly contributed to the development and implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) policies in governance and public administration.
The assessment conducted by Apolitical recognizes the pivotal role played by Mr. Mkhitar Hayrapetyan in shaping Armenia’s technology and innovation agenda. The platform highlights the significance of the strategic initiatives initiated under his leadership in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), including the establishment of a major AI data center in Armenia and the implementation of several national AI programs. It also emphasizes the Minister’s commitment to advancing AI literacy, with a focus on integrating AI education into schools and universities to develop future specialists and strengthen the country’s national capacity.
Other officials included in the 2026 list are senior figures from various countries, such as Michael Kratsios, U.S. White House Science & Technology Advisor; Clara Chappaz, France’s Minister for Artificial Intelligence; Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister for AI and Digital Economy; Masaaki Taira, Japan’s Minister for Digital Transformation; Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine’s Minister of Defense; Tim Ayres, Australia’s Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science; Amr Talaat, Egypt’s Minister of Communications and IT; Zhaslan Madiyev, Kazakhstan’s Minister for AI and Digital Development; Ashwini Vaishnaw, India’s Minister for Railways and IT; and Radosław Sikorski, Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, among others.
The list was formed through a rigorous multi-stage assessment and selection process, recognizing officials and policymakers whose strategic vision and initiatives have advanced the widespread, systemic adoption of artificial intelligence, bolstered institutional capabilities, and driven the integration of innovative solutions across public sector governance.
