\"DigiTec 2024\" Kicks Off: Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan Attends Opening Ceremony and Tours Exhibition Booths

The opening ceremony of DigiTec 2024, the most technological expo of the year, took place at the Meridian Expo Center on October 4. The event was attended by the Minister of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan.

For the first time, the Ministry of High-Tech Industry was represented at DigiTec in a new and engaging format. The joint pavilion of the Ministry featured the "Republican Telecommunication Center," "Television and Radio Broadcasting Network of Armenia," "Haypost," "Yerevan Plant of Mathematical Machines," and "Engineering City."

During the opening ceremony, Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan addressed the event's participants, guests, and representatives of the tech community. He emphasized that Armenia's strong and competitive economy determines the future of the country. "An economy based on knowledge, innovation, and high-tech solutions, where the promotion of exportable industries is encouraged, and the value chain of production processes within the country is maximized. An economy whose philosophy promotes the export of finished products rather than raw materials. All of this is best reflected within the framework of DigiTec," said Mkhitar Hayrapetyan.

The Minister also emphasized that the Armenian Government walks in step with private sector partners in the tech community, sharing the same vision. He thanked the event organizers and highlighted the importance of working towards the internationalization of DigiTec.

Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan also welcomed the attendees. He spoke about the new technological tools introduced by Yerevan Municipality, noting that digital transformation is a key pillar of the city's development.

US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Christina Quinn, UATE Chairman Alexander Yesayan, and UATE Executive Director Sargis Karapetyan also delivered welcome remarks.

Following the opening ceremony, Minister Mkhitar Hayrapetyan toured the expo pavilions, engaged with participants, and learned about the latest achievements and innovations from the technology companies showcased at the expo.

DigiTec 2024 will also feature DigiTalks, where over the course of three days, topics such as technology education, ecosystem development, talent management, cutting-edge innovations, artificial intelligence, and its impacts and emerging challenges will be discussed.

It’s worth noting that DigiTec 2024 spans 10,000 square meters, with over 100 startups represented in the Startup Path. An elevator pitch opportunity is available, allowing individuals with innovative ideas to communicate directly with investors.

DigiTec is the largest expo held in Armenia, featuring presentations of the latest IT solutions, engineering potential, and professional seminars and discussions. The event is traditionally organized by the Union of Advanced Technologies Enterprises (UATE).

The DigiTec expo was first held in 2005 at the initiative of Karen Vardanyan, Executive Director of UATE.
