Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia and Firebird AI Sign $25 Million Agreement to Advance AI Innovation

The Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia and Firebird AI have signed an agreement for the acquisition of high-performance computing resources.

The agreement is based on a decision of the Government of the Republic of Armenia, under which the state will procure high-performance computing resources from Firebird AI valued at USD 25 million over a five-year period.

The document was signed by David Gasparyan, Secretary General of the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of the Republic of Armenia, and Alexander Yesayan, Founder and CEO of Firebird AI.

Emphasizing the importance of the agreement, Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan noted that the project has been made possible through strategic agreements reached between the Governments of the Republic of Armenia and the United States, as well as through the dedicated efforts of the company’s founders.

“This is only the beginning of a long journey. The project creates new opportunities in science, advanced technologies, and innovation, setting a new benchmark for development,” the Minister stated.
Mkhitar Hayrapetyan also stressed that one of the key principles of the initiative is to ensure that the resources generated in Armenia primarily serve the development of the local ecosystem.

According to the Minister, the Artificial Intelligence Virtual Institute (AIVI), established last year, will serve as a platform to ensure access to these resources. He further noted that the initiative represents a strong example of effective public-private partnership, contributing to Armenia’s technological advancement, economic growth, and strengthening its position on the global technology map.

Alexander Yesayan, Founder and CEO of Firebird AI, stated that the collaboration is aimed at strengthening Armenia’s AI ecosystem and accelerating the development of innovative projects.

“Artificial intelligence is transforming the world today, and the countries that make bold decisions now will define the rules of the future. We are inspired by the Ministry’s vision and approach, which places Armenia’s technological future at its core. This is a joint commitment by the public and private sectors to scientists, researchers, students, and startups that they will have access to the tools needed to harness AI for the benefit of Armenia’s development.”

Rev Lebaredian, Vice President of Omniverse and Simulation Technology at NVIDIA, also highlighted the importance of the agreement, emphasizing that Armenia has the potential to become not only an emerging but a leading technology nation.

“The goal of this initiative is to bring the country to the global forefront by leveraging the power of AI supercomputing. The deployment of high-performance computing resources in the first phase will enable Armenia to reach the level of countries such as Germany, and by the end of the year, with the completion of the second phase, the country is expected to rank among the world’s top five in terms of total computing capacity. This infrastructure, built through effective collaboration between the public and private sectors, will give Armenia capabilities and productivity comparable to countries with populations in the billions.”

The agreement marks a significant step forward in strengthening Armenia’s technological capabilities. It establishes the foundation for the development of new AI solutions, the expansion of research activity, and the growth of an innovation-driven environment, contributing to the formation of a competitive, knowledge-based ecosystem.
