On October 1, Minister of High-Tech Industry and Artificial Intelligence of the Republic of Armenia Davit Tadevosyan received representatives of Microchip Technology, led by Shaqil Piray, Corporate Vice President of the company’s FPGA business unit.

During the meeting, a number of issues related to the development and expansion of the company’s operations in Armenia were discussed. The parties also addressed the company’s activities in Gyumri, Vanadzor, and Ijevan, emphasizing the importance of Microchip Technology’s presence in promoting the development of the high-tech sector in the regions, engaging professional talent, and strengthening local technology ecosystems.

The parties also discussed the approval, in June 2026, by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) of the export license required for Microchip Technology’s operations in Armenia, as well as its potential impact on the company’s future operations, investment programs, and development opportunities.

The meeting also addressed the conditions required for the import of Microchip products into Armenia. In this context, reference was made to the Ministry’s ongoing discussions with representatives of international semiconductor companies and the U.S. Government on developing a classified list of products.

The parties agreed to continue working on the discussed areas with a view to implementing further steps and expanding cooperation.
